LOCATION | Arbantes, PT
TYPOLOGY | Urban intervention
Historical architecture and world heritage were always symbols of time and of human history. Today more than ever the world has understood their importance and fights in many ways to preserve archeological or architectural remains endangered because of wars, negligence or natural disasters. In the same way the site of Antigo Convento de São Domingos in Arbantes, Portugal was chosen because of its symbol of time for Arbantes residents.
The Time Garden proposal is an experience, a space to celebrate the vanishing moment which will never return. It is a metaphor for time passing and the ephemeral. Big white abstract floating flowers are planted in the central garden patio. These gigantic flowers drop on the lawn ever changing shadows, following the daily course of the planet. The landscape enables people to follow the shading along the day. It is a celebration of time, a celebration of an ephemeral blossom.
